The World Athletics Indoor Championships has been postponed again.
Originally set to take place from March 13 to 15, 2020 in Nanjing,
China, the event was postponed to March 19 to 21, 2021, because of the
coronavirus pandemic. But World Athletics announced that the event
will be postponed even further, to 2023.

Why the two-year push? The indoor track season has a limited window,
lasting only until the end of March; because of uncertainty about the
pandemic, organizers don’t feel comfortable hosting it in this window.
The World Indoor Championships, an event held every two years, is
already scheduled to take place in Serbia in 2022.
Thus, the decision was made to postpone to 2023.
“For the safety of our athletes and technical officials, we must duly
consider the risks in bringing a large group of people to attend the
event under the pandemic situation and fully respect and carry out the
pandemic prevention policy of the host country,” World Athletics
   said in a press release.
Now, it appears that we will see three straight years of indoor
   championships between 2022 and 2024.
World Athletics also added that despite the postponement of the
championships, the 2021 World Indoor Tour will go on as planned with 26
meets across Europe and North America, running from the end of January
   to the end of February.
