IIRC, the show it spun-off of was the same one that spun-off Are You Being Served.
Great show. I was never much into British comedy, but a friend of mine (a hug
Britcom fan) introduced me to a bunch of them (Red Dwarf, Father Ted, Keeping Up Appearences, et al) and I was hooked. Being a sci-fi guy, Red Dwarf was my
favorite, but AYBS was definitely #2. My friend and I used to have little bet
on what color Mrs. Slocombe's hair would be next episode.
IIRC, our local PBS affiliate used to show Red Dwarf, but they took it out
of "the rotation" right before I got introduced to the Britcoms. I have
heard good things and need to watch it sometime.
AYBS was a hoot. It has not rotated back on air here in a long time. I
never would have thought about betting on what color Mrs. Slocombe's hair
was, but I bet that was fun as it often changed! ;) I was partial to her junior, of course.
