Thanks. Ironically, what I was testing was REP packets compressed with ZIP!
Out of curiousity, what was the issue?
My BW reply packets were not being decompressed by ARJ with the Blue Wave offline mail door on the BBS. I'm using the open-source ARJ from ARJ Software Russia on my Windows box and my ArcaOS box (DOS version). I forgot to add the -2d switch to Multimail's ARJ compression line. -2d means "use ARJ/DOS compatibility". It all works fine now.
It was a similar compatibility issue. The linux libraries being used do
not like the old "imploding" method that earlier versions of DOS PKZIP
used.
What made it frustrating is that my QWK readers include the '-e0' on the
PKZIP calls (which means "store only"), and PKZIP -v was reporting that the files were "stored" and not "imploded".
Whatever it was, it has not happened since. Probably because I am keeping
an eye on it. ;)
